Overview

Contango Income Generator Limited (ASX:CIE) is an income-focused, ex-top 20 listed investment company.

CIE’s stated objective is to pay quarterly dividends that provide investors with an attractive and sustainable income stream that is franked to the maximum possible extent. To the extent that the company is not able to pay a dividend, it undertakes to return an appropriate amount of capital to shareholders via an on-market buyback.

CIE’s investment manager focuses on selecting those companies that provide a consistent and growing source of dividends. CIE is characterised by a strong and diverse portfolio of companies outside of the ASX top-20 that exhibit sustainable cashflows and strong business models.

CIE’s dividend policy is to pay quarterly dividends that provide investors with an attractive and sustainable income stream that is franked to the maximum possible extent.

Diversification

The Company offers exposure to high yielding equities that are outside of the ASX top-20. This helps diversify away from holdings that are over-represented in many self-directed investors’ portfolios such as the Banks, Telstra and BHP.

Quarterly Income

Dividends are paid to investors quarterly, rather than half-yearly or annually.

Tax Effective

The Company is tax aware and aims to frank dividends to the maximum possible extent.

Associate Global Partners Limited (ASX:CGA) is the manager of Contango Income Generator Limited (ASX:CIE). The Contango Income Generator invests in a portfolio of predominantly mid-cap Australian companies with a history of sustained dividend payments and modest capital growth. The portfolio is managed by Shawn Burns who has been the manager since inception.

The investment team conducts detailed research on each company in the portfolio with emphasis placed on balance sheet strength, cashflow generation, industry structure and management ability. Following this analysis, stocks are ranked based on risk and return. Risk is assessed using factors such as share price volatility, balance sheet strength, industry structure and management’s track record. Yield, franking, price to earnings and price to book ratios are some of the inputs considered for a stock’s potential return.
