Brett was appointed to the Board on 28 August 2024 following a 30-year career in the financial services industry. Most recently Brett was Chief Executive Officer of Magellan Financial Group Limited (Magellan) from 2018 to 2021. He joined Magellan in 2007 as a non-executive director before becoming non-executive Chair in 2013 and executive Chair from 2015 to 2018. Prior to his time at Magellan, Dr Cairns was co-head of the capital markets group within structured finance at Babcock & Brown, which he joined in 2002. He was also the managing director and head of debt capital markets for Merrill Lynch in Australia where he worked from 1994 to 2002 Prior to that Dr Cairns worked at Credit Suisse Financial Products from 1990. Dr Cairns is also an independent non-executive director of the holding companies of La Trobe Financial Pty Ltd and Folklore Ventures Pty Ltd.
